In autumn 2021 I met Andrew Vietze on the steps of his ranger station at Daicey Pond in the Maine wilderness. We knew early on that we would spend the rest of our lives together, but I still cried when he proposed, in the same place where we shared our first talks.
In his search for a ring that was perfect for me, he came across Scottish marble, a Highlands/Islands stone historically cherished for protection and mental clarity. I absolutely love the sentiment and how perfect the ring is for me. We are planning to elope this summer, in the wilderness that has nurtured our relationship.
We spend half of each year here at his duty station in the shadow of Katahdin, and with each passing season I have fallen deeper and deeper in love with him. For one who is usually so comfortable with words, I find it impossible to describe what he means to me, how happy he makes my soul, how much he has healed and empowered me, how hollow my world would be without him.
Forever started the day I met you Andy. I’m so proud to be by your side!
Congratulations! <3
